It vacuums carpeted rooms quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room and hallways with only one motion. Its 8,000pa suction motor makes short work of picking up dirt, crumbs and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically increases power when it detects rugs and the dual side brush helps to remove debris from corners.

The mopping performance, though still impressive, isn't as good. The mop rotates quickly and utilizes 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stains. I've also noticed that the front arms extend out slightly more than other robots, which is helpful to get into tight corners and along baseboards. The same front arms can also be employed to clean larger objects, such as broken toys and books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot vacuum best mop and vacuums I've tried. It doesn't make the same volume of sound when mopping or vacuuming, and is quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only downside is that the S1 Pro must use a exclusive cleaning solution for mopping, and is separate from the vacuum. It is easy to install, and it works well. However, if you are buying this vacuum solely to mop you must be aware of this.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our test, but it comes with some unique features that make it worth a look. The X1 Omni is most notable for its massive dock that serves as an charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses the 2.5-liter dust bin and a 2.5 milliliter dust bin.

The base has several control buttons, which allow you to manually start cleaning tasks or recall the robot, or use the dock's auto-emptying procedure. Press two buttons to turn off the child lock. This is a nice feature for parents who are worried about their kids messing around with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni uses its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni can sometimes get so entangled with obstacles, like the power cord that is draped across a rug, that it gets stuck and ceases to function until you manually free it. While it was not common however, it was a gruelling experience when it happened particularly since the X1 Omni doesn't come with an "stuck" status alert on its app.

Another issue that could be a problem is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between vacuuming and mopping modes during the cleaning process. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad but the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between use. This could lead to mildew and mold.

On the bright side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad. It's a significant difference from the utilitarian black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. It's also a welcome sight for an industry dominated by boxes.
