WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrading upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar Best item upgrader will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which will show an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade item recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require several methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear of a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and Item level Upgrade easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. It's Best item upgrader to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
