World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like crit chance and PvE damage.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets in order to give them a stat boost or an extra effect. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be used. The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-level version of the item will be available at the time of the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear even in the event that they don't know how much it can be improved upon an update.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it's possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the risk of failure. Certain upgrades also provide a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes in their radius and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as possible up to 15 levels.

When the player upgrades an item it is replaced with a new item of the same type. The same armor will receive a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a drawback in that the item could increase in price even if you do not need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, which will come with an initial level and a totally different set of bonuses. This can be beneficial, but shouldn't be done often as it can be a waste of resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or swims like a dolphin). If an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit, the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its value. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have an incredibly lower cost for each upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from normal equipment. For example they may require less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons.
